New York, NY, Oct. 22 – Yesterday afternoon the Permanent Observer of the Holy See to the United Nations, Archbishop Francis Chullikatt, addressed the Second Committee of the UN General Assembly and drew attention to the plight of the millions of people living in extreme poverty. He described as an insult the fact that, in spite of all social and economic advancements, so many are deprived of food, drinking water, sanitation facilities, basic health-care and shelter. With the means available to eradicate poverty he questioned if there is a will to do so.
