Internship Application Checklist

  1. Cover Letter
    • Briefly explain your background, how you learned about the internship, and why you are interested in serving as an intern for the Holy See’s Permanent Observer Mission to the United Nations.
    • Clearly indicate the session(s) for which you are applying (Fall, Spring, or Summer).
    • Describe your field of study and any qualifications relevant to the work of the Holy See at the United Nations.
    • Indicate where you practice the Catholic faith and your familiarity with Catholic Social Teaching.

  2. Curriculum Vitae
    • Submit a standard curriculum vitae detailing your academic, professional, and volunteer experience, as well as relevant skills, languages, and competencies.
    • Ensure your CV includes complete contact information (mailing address, phone number, email, and other relevant contact platforms) and your date of birth.

  3. Recommendations
    • One recommendation from a college professor, academic advisor, or equivalent who can speak to your academic qualifications. Applicants who have been out of school for some time may instead submit a recommendation from a professional supervisor.
    • One recommendation from a Catholic pastor, university chaplain, or Catholic priest or deacon who can briefly attest to your knowledge and practice of the Catholic faith and your character.
    • If obtaining either recommendation presents difficulty, please explain the circumstances in your cover letter.

  4. Deadlines and Submission
    • Application deadlines are:
      • April 15 — Fall Session
      • October 1 — Spring Session
      • January 1 — Summer Session
    • All application materials (cover letter, CV, and recommendations) must be received by email by the applicable deadline. Early submission is encouraged.
    • Applications should be sent to internship@holyseemission.org with “Internship Application” in the subject line.
