On Monday, January 7, Pope Francis received in the Vatican all of the Ambassadors accredited to the Holy See and gave his annual address in which he outlined various priorities of the Holy See for the upcoming year. He highlighted the importance of multilateralism, noting that this year marks the 100th anniversary of the League of Nations, which he said represents the beginning of modern multilateral diplomacy that paved the way for the 1945 establishment of the United Nations Organization. He also brought attention to the ongoing unrest in many regions of the world and the importance of assisting the people who are affected by these situations, particularly migrants and refugees.
His address follows and can also be found on the Holy See Mission website.
