FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
November 11, 2015
On November 10, The Permanent Observer Mission of the Holy See to the UN gave an intervention during the deliberations of the Fourth Committee of the 70th Session of the General Assembly of the United Nations on Agenda Item 54, dedicated to “United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refuges in the Near East (UNRWA).”
In its statement, the Holy See gave its reactions to 2014 UNRWA Annual Report, which it said paints a “very troubling picture” on financial and other issues confronting the Agency. It expressed gratitude to the people of Lebanon and Jordan, Turkey and some European countries for their care of refugees from Palestine, Iraq and Syria. It called on the international community to support Lebanon in its efforts to stabilize its institutions and for Jordan in its caring for refugees and fending off terrorism.
The statement can be found here.
