On May 12, on the vigil of the centenary of the apparitions in Fatima, the Permanent Observer Mission of the Holy See to the United Nations, together with the Permanent Mission of Portugal, jointly sponsored a commemorative event with 600 people entitled, “The Centenary of Fatima and the Enduring Relevance of its Message for Peace.” Archbishop Bernardito Auza, Permanent Observer of the Holy See, gave the following keynote address on that theme.
